Nurses have been vital to the spirit and operations of Those Nerdy Girls since the beginning. Our style of empathetic and trustworthy science communication is inspired by the therapeutic communcation approach of nursing.

We are SO grateful to the nurses everywhere delivering their vital care, this week and EVERY week.

Dr. Ashely Ritter (APRN, PhD) is a geriatric nurse practitioner who helps people with complicated medical and social needs make a personalized plan for continued care. She integrates her clinical knowledge, health policy training, and research skills to build better systems of care to meet post-hospital needs with the goal of sustained wellness. Her recent work examines the use of nursing homes for care delivery to younger adults, individuals experiencing opioid use disorder, and during the Covid-19 pandemic. Ashley is a member of our Aging Squad.

Dr. Aparna Kumar (PhD, CRNP, MPH) is a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP-BC) who works to ensure that mental health care is accessible, evidence-based, and integrated across healthcare settings. Her research aims to improve outcomes for women, children, and families by showing how and why mental health influences many aspects of our lives. Aparna is a member of our Mental Health Squad.

MK Haber (FNP-C, IBCLC) is certified as a family nurse practitioner and a lactation consultant with a particular interest in substance use disorder treatment, chronic pain management, sexual health, harm reduction, reproductive health, and inclusive breast/chest/body feeding and family support. They are a member of our Reproductive Health Squad.

Andrea Harmony (NP-C, PMHS) is a pediatric-focused Family Nurse Practitioner. As an undergraduate in Biology, she planned to go into research, but two fabulous Nurse Practitioners inspired her to follow the same path. Travel nursing brought her across the country and a love of language and culture led her to Latin America, which piqued a particular interest in infectious and emerging infectious diseases. She is a member of our Infectious Disease Squad.

Dr. Brianna Morgan (PhD, CRNP, ACHPN®) is a Geriatric and Palliative Care Nurse Practitioner with over a decade of nursing experience caring for older adults living with serious illnesses including dementia, cancer, and severe brain injury. Brianna is a member of our Aging Squad.

Dr. Christina R. Whitehouse (PhD, AGPCNP-BC, CDCES, FADCES) is an Assistant Professor at Villanova University Fitzpatrick College of Nursing and Adult Health-Gerontologic Primary Care Nurse Practitioner. She has more than 15 years of experience as an advanced practice nurse working to improve transitions in care for older adults and their family caregivers. As a Certified Diabetes Education and Care Specialist, she has a particular interest in improving the care for those living with diabetes. She is a member of our Aging Squad.

Clara Ke (BSN, RN) is a University of Pennsylvania NURS ’22 graduate interested in exploring health communication and the care and wellbeing of older adults. She is currently a registered nurse working in radiation oncology hoping to eventually teach in academia. When she’s not busy being a Nerdy Girl, you can find her reading a good book or trying out new recipes. Clara is a member of our Aging Squad.
