Poornima is an applied mathematician with a Ph.D from the University of Southern California. She started her career in Citibank’s Global Markets, developing pricing models for derivatives and testing algorithms for trading software. She is now the Director of Financial Operations at Northern Westchester Hospital, part of Northwell Health. In that role, she oversees all aspects of analytics and processes as it pertains to hospital revenue and expenses and works on planning and growth. She helps facilitate training in leadership and DEI, and runs learning sessions in Finance. She also studies the downstream effects of DEI initiatives in Northwell Health. She has long been committed to education, particularly in simplifying math and science to non-experts. She loves to read, walk everywhere, especially on the beach, attempt all the NY Times puzzles, hang out with family and travel.
