May 12 – 18 is National Women’s Health Week!

Health & Wellness

National Women’s Health Week is an observance that aims to

➡️ Highlight women’s health issues and priorities and
➡️ Encourage women of all ages to prioritize their physical, mental, and emotional well-being.

This year’s theme is Empowering Women, Cultivating Health: Celebrating Voices, Wellness, and Resilience. The Office on Women’s Health uses this week to celebrate the strength and determination of women and to foster an environment where all women feel supported and empowered to speak up about their health needs and concerns.

We would like to highlight a few ways that women can take charge of their health.

✅ Attend regular check-up appointments.
Talk with your health provider about screenings and exams you may need and when.

✅ Enjoy a healthy and balanced diet.
Be sure to have a healthy eating plan that includes fruits, vegetables, whole grains, fat-free or low-fat milk and other dairy products, and lean meats and fish.

✅ Get active.
Every bit of physical activity helps. Start small and build up to whatever you can manage. The CDC recommends 2 hours and 30 minutes each week.

✅ Prioritize mental health.
Prioritize your mental health and wellbeing and know when to seek support from family, friends, and/or health and mental health professionals.

✅ Take care of your body.
Be sure to get enough sleep, avoid smoking/vaping, and make time to unwind.

Stay healthy, and stay empowered!

Love,
Those Nerdy Girls
