Dr. Alison Buttenheim is a social scientist who studies the behavioral aspects of infectious disease prevention. She is an Associate Professor of Nursing and Health Policy at the University of Pennsylvania, where she is also an Associate Director of Penn’s Center for Health Incentives and Behavioral Economics. She is also a co-founder of Dear Pandemic and serves as the brand’s Chief Marketing Officer. Her research on infectious disease prevention and behavioral economics is currently funded by the National Institutes of Health and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Dr. Buttenheim received an MBA from the Stanford University Graduate School of Business and a PhD in Public Health from UCLA, and completed postdoctoral training at Princeton University and the University of Pennsylvania. Her work has been published in journals including JAMA, American Journal of Public Health, and Health Affairs. She is a beekeeper and an avid Schitt’s Creek fan.
