Tomorrow is International Day of Women and Girls in Science

Women in STEM

February 11 is International Day of Women and Girls in Science, and this year marks its 10th anniversary! Gender equality in science is a crucial part of building a better future for everyone, however, women and girls continue to face systemic obstacles and biases in pursuing careers in science.

Closing the gender gap in science requires breaking stereotypes, promoting role models to inspire girls, supporting women’s advancement through targeted programs, and fostering inclusive environments through policies and actions that promote inclusion, diversity, and equity.

Those Nerdy Girls want to honor and celebrate all women and girls in science, today and every day!

Did you know that our own team of contributors at TNG offers a vast depth of science-related expertise? We have epidemiologists, demographers, molecular and cellular biologists, immunologists, geneticists, and statisticians, many with a Master of Public Health (MPH) on top of their specific areas of expertise. We also have many clinicians including Nurse Practitioners, Nurses, Pharmacists, Physical Therapists, and Physicians. And of course we can’t forget our aspiring scientists and clinicians, one of which is in high school!

Because we want to celebrate Women in Science every day, we are planning two upcoming series. One will introduce some of these incredible SuperNerds to you, and the other will dive a little deeper into some of our Nerds’ disciplines and how they work in real life.

For now, you can check out Those Nerdy Girls’ profiles on our homepage.

Please give a shout-out to the women and girls in science in *your* life!

Stay safe. Stay well. Follow that dream!

Love,
Those Nerdy Girls&+
